Lip Fillers

About Lip Fillers

When people look at a face the eyes are drawn to the lips and a full smile is considered to be both attractive and sensual. Lip shape and fullness are very individual things and can vary from woman to woman and range from very full lips to those that are quite thin and as women get older their lips tend to lose plumpness as well.

To try and address this problem of lip plumping filler can be used to add fullness to the area. When used, the lip fillers will provide not only plump the lips but also help to smooth out any fine lines that may be present making the mouth more attractive.

As the mouth is a very sensitive area and is made up of delicate tissues, a local anaesthetic has been incorporated in the formulation, to reduce the discomfort caused by the lip plumping injections.

Procedure in Lip Shaping

There are several steps involved when you choose to have one of the procedures such as lip shaping they are as follows:-

  1. The area to be treated needs to be cleaned thoroughly to remove all traces of makeup and product residues.
  2. If the area is especially sensitive an anaesthetic cream may be offered by the practitioner even though the product has been formulated to include lidocaine.
  3. The injection procedure can take anything from 15 – 30 minutes to perform.
  4. To make sure that the product is distributed evenly over the area the lip plumping practitioner may need to massage the treated area once the injection is complete.
  5. This may be followed by an ice pack to help reduce any evidence of swelling in the treated area.

Aftercare

Instructions for the 24 hours post lip plumping:

  1. Use analgesia as recommended by the practitioner.
  2. Do not arrange to have any dental treatment carried out for a couple of days after the treatment.
  3. Do not have any massages or treatments that require you to be positioned face downwards, immediately following the treatment.
  4. If you intend to use lip balm or facial products after the treatment, check with the practitioner regarding products to be avoided.

About Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and helps to keep cells moist and plump which is particularly noticeable in the skin. As with many substances in the body, hyaluronic acid needs to be constantly replaced as it is broken down very quickly; as a rule this takes about 48 hours. However, the rate at which it is replaced gradually decreases with age, so the cells are less hydrated and the volume is reduced which all adds to the signs of aging.

Hyaluronic acid has been used for cosmetic treatments for some time, initially to help fill deeper facial lines and newer formulations have been developed to deal with the lip area to produce a smoother more natural result.
