Coolsculpt - What is it and how can we help

I know that a lot of women will agree with me that controlling weight is a constant battle and one which can be challenging. I want to eat ALL the food and drink ALL the wine and yet I still want to keep nice and slim. I know it is supposed to be about balance but I also like to have a life and enjoy nice things : )

Despite my best efforts to attend the gym 3-4 times a week this can be challenging so this week I was very excited about trying out our new machine in clinic which promises to help you remove up to 20-30% of fat in those stubborn areas which can be difficult to shift. The theory behind this machine is great, it promises to help ‘contour’ the body and can be used to get rid of stubborn areas of fat for good. For example those pesky love handles that nobody really loves. This is also a non invasive procedure which involves no downtime and no anaesthesia, making it the perfect lunchtime treatment.

Although the clinical studies for this procedure has only been carried out in a smaller adult population, the results do seem promising and there are larger trials in process which should hopefully reinforce the machines efficacy. In case you were wondering the machine can be used on numerous areas including the abdomen, flanks, thighs, submittal area and back.

So I bet you are wondering how does this miracle machine work? Well the machine uses something called ‘cryo’ technology.  As complicated as it sounds this just basically means that the fat cells are cooled down to 4 degrees for a period of time in which they die.  The results are however not seen immediately so you have to wait for between 12-16 weeks to start to see the results from the treatment. However if this actually works then I am happy to wait for this period of time!  The patient satisfaction with the machine is also extremely high, making it sound even more promising.

I have been a little sceptical about how this technology works which is the reason why i will be testing the machine myself and tracking my progress. I don’t think i can effectively discuss treatments with my clients that I have not undertaken myself therefore I will be posting some before and after pictures as well as discussing the treatment, side effects and also how happy I was with the results.

Having the procedure done this week so I will update in a couple of weeks time!
